Unit 3 Reflection
This unit was about many different topics revolving around cells. Photosynthesis, cellular respiration, different parts of a cell, as well as diffusion and osmosis were just some of the topics that were covered in the unit. In Chapter 7, the two main themes was what each organelle in a cell does and what happens during osmosis and diffusion. Chapter 8 was all about photosynthesis and the different stages of it. Cellular respiration was the topic of Chapter 9 and the main theme was the different steps of cellular respiration.
The details of photosynthesis and cellular respiration were hard to grasp. I still don't quite get the way they work, but I know the difference and the basic information on what happens at each stage of each process. For managing the demands of my class, I've learned to juggle it a bit better. I know now to not leave anything to the last minute and try to get a lot done in class. Working with other people and collaborating with them requires a lot of trust and I'm still trying to improve with that, but I've gotten better.
All of the labs and classwork that we did really improved my skill set of managing time and picking up difficult concepts quicker. I learned to take more detailed notes and to try to listen to the teacher instead of just writing down whatever was on the board and tuning out. I'm also getting better at group work and trusting people to do their job and actually completing their assignment so the group could benefit as a whole.
I want to learn more about cellular respiration and more about how it works. We touched on it briefly in class, but I'd really like to go into more detail and get a better understanding of how our bodies work. I'm still a little unclear on how photosynthesis works and what each molecule does. I also don't understand the chemical reactions that go on inside chloroplasts. I wonder about how we came to know all of these things and why people even wondered about this in the first place and was curious enough to explore it even more.
