Unit 8 Reflection
This unit was about evolution and the history of life on Earth. Some themes were artificial selection, natural selection, and the evolution of genes. Artificial selection is when humans pick animals with specific traits to breed for their own purposes. Natural selection is when individuals with the traits better suited for surviving in their environment survive and reproduce, while the others die off. The evolution of a gene pool occurs through natural selection. It favors on certain phenotypes which means that the individual with those traits will survive and reproduce. We did a lab on this that tested the survival of birds(us) with three different types of breaks.http://jnleeblog.blogspot.com/2017/03/hunger-game-lab.htmlI want to learn more about the evolution of plants and how some came to be through artificial selection or natural selection. I'm wondering if humans could eventually adapt to live underwater. It seems like an interesting thing to see. After all, all the mammals in the water used to live on land, so I'm just wondering if it would be a possibility and where to start. I'm still not sure how the beginnings and ends of eras, periods, and epochs are marked. How do we divide everything?
In Unit 7, we learned about We're working on a project that's making a timeline of Earth on a really long receipt. Whenever my group starts straying to a different topic, I'll ask them to help me with something or send them to talk and work and the same time some where on the receipt. I think I still need to work on being less passive-aggressive. I've been doing it for such a long time that it's hard to break that habit.
